Infographic of the Week: Are Cars Getting Safer?

by Vivien Mah

Car safety is crucial, especially for new-car shoppers. Fortunately, today’s modern cars offer more occupant protection and car safety technologies such as the Mobileye than older car models.

This infographic looks at car crash statistics from 1990 to 2009 to help answer the question “are cars getting safer?”.

Perhaps a large contributing factor to the relatively better safety features in today’s cars is due to the features and technology in them. Enhanced built-in safety features such as airbags, antilock braking systems, stability controls and seat belts are all critical, but car manufacturers are also installing advanced driver awareness systems (ADAS) such as the Mobileye to boost car safety.

In today’s high-tech world where driver distraction continues to contribute significantly to serious road crashes, ADAS technologies are ever so important. It’s why ADAS technologies such as the Mobileye are getting more sought after today.

While the Mobileye technology is already available in major car manufacturers such as Volvo, BMW and GM, Mobileye is now also available for aftermarket installation in Australia.
